Rumors

NaBloPoMo asks:
“Is it OK to add “just kidding” after a surprising statement?”

Well, there in lies the question.  I have never been a person that could take a joke.  I usually believe that if someone bothers to tell me something it should be gospel or why would they bother saying it?  I tend to be a straight shooter and only attach the “just kidding” tag to something completely outrageous that couldn’t possibly be true in the first place.  I don’t get my jollies at someone else’s expense and I am generally not impressed with others who do.

Playing malicious pranks on someone so the world can laugh at them for being so gullible and trusting is just about the lowest of the low.  Instead of thinking this is funny, I am usually appalled.   Maybe there is something drastically wrong with me, but I usually find absolutely nothing humorous in shocking someone or making someone else feel bad.

Setting someone up so everyone can laugh at them is beyond rude and cruel.  No “just kidding” will ever smooth it over.  Throwing in a “just kidding” only undermines a person’s credibility and shows who they really are.   Some people need to learn how to act and what is funny and what is not.  Like I have said numerous times in the past I despise people who get their jollies stirring the $hit and have little patience for them.

Life is entirely too short to deal with crap like that.    So in answer to the question, is it OK to say “just kidding” at the end of a surprising statement my answer is if it is outrageous and couldn’t possibly be true, then yes, but if any shred could have a glimmer of believability in it than my answer is a resounding hell no.  The beauty is that what goes around always comes around eventually to bite the rumor spreading, gossip monger where the sun refuses to shine.  In the end that kind of justice is the sweetest of all until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.
