All that Remains

My tears fall as I trace the letters, desperately longing for only you:

first, last, and middle initial, dates, and loving epitaph.

Sadly, there is so little left to physically mark your presence here.

Years pass, memories fade, but my love lingers.

  1. Will always linger until death reunites or just kills and that is that lol

    1. Pat, yep...that about sums it up. I always...I mean always trace the letters on my folks's headstone when I visit the cemetery. Pretty pathetic but true. I used to go a lot more...now I rarely go. Just enough to keep them decorated with silk flowers and mementos. My mom always joked her grave would probably end up looking like Ebenezer Scrooge's and I have made damn sure to prove her wrong. Thank you so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

    1. Carol, while I have experience with this, it isn't from anything even close to recent thankfully. It is a subject that I am familiar with because I have lived it so I can easily draw from those feelings and memories for my writing. Thank you so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

    1. Nabanita, obviously I can imagine it because I have lived it and know exactly what it feels like. I wish I didn't but in someways it strengthened me so in the end, it was for the best. I grew from it and found a way to go on and apply the raw emotion to my writing where the prompt suited. Thank you for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

    2. They're deserved. I read over it again today, and I feel exactly the same. Have you sent this one out to any publishers? I know a couple of the head honchos at Vine Leaves Literary, and I think this would be a total match with their style. Tell Jessica and Theresa that I sent you. http://www.vineleavesliteraryjournal.com/
