Hope

That moment of unprotected violence,

Sarah barely escaped with her life.

She struggled to erase the nightmarish memories with drugs.

Unfortunately,

the unthinkable happened.

Nine months later a baby is born.

Plagued forever with brain defects, she fights.

Ironically, her name is

Hope.

Finding Inner Peace

In the midst of turmoil and fear, when life is at its lowest point I find inner peace through prayer.  When push comes to shove I reach for my bible for it holds all the answers of the universe within its pages.

I retreat into a book.  I write.  I create.  I knit.  I crochet.  Sometimes I take a walk into the silence.  Sometimes I crank my favorite music and within the melodies and rollicking rhythms I find peace.  Other times I write allowing the words to flow from my fingertips as quickly as my mind can formulate them.  My words make sense of it all even when they ramble and make little sense at all in context.

Although having those you hold most dear close in times of turmoil helps for moral support,   I believe true inner peace comes from within and from faith, hope, and trust in G0d.

This Too Shall Pass-BFF 224

There are times in life when nothing seems to go right.  Money comes in short supply despite the fact that bills keep right on coming in at an alarming rate.   Maybe the job that you were so excited to get begins to lose its luster when you realize what the word “sub” really means.  Add in constant migraines, a killer backache, and a splattering of other health issues and you discover more reasons to wish that tomorrow would just never come.  You go two steps forward only to fall five steps back like some sick and twisted real life “Chutes and Ladder’s” game.

No one wants to hear about it really.  They have their own problems and issues to deal with.  No one wants to hear non stop doom and gloom.  People want others to be light hearted and happy soldiering through life’s turmoil with a smile on their face and a song in their heart if for no other reason than so they too can have hope in their own journey through life.  Why else when asked how we are everyone tends to lie through their teeth by saying “I’m fine!”

Growing up my mom and dad had a piece of advice they dished out for almost every complaint.  They would embrace me in a hug and say with much tenderness “This too shall pass.”  Over the years I have found comfort and solace in these four words.  I also realized that they were loaded with truth.  Time is constantly passing and ticking by.  Things are continuously changing.  The fact that life seems especially bleak at the moment doesn’t mean that it will always be so.  I may walk around with a little black rain cloud hovering over my head now, but tomorrow the sun will come out.  I will find another reason to smile.  A person must have faith.  Things never come in our time.  They always come in G0d’s time.  By the time that happens we have learned from the struggle and appreciate even more the reprieve.

Now that I am a parent I find myself uttering these words of wisdom to my own children.  It is the one thing a person can count on for certain especially when riddled with pain.  You will either get over it, or you will die with it.  Regardless, this too shall pass regardless the outcome until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.

I Hope -BFF 190

When my children were born I remember gazing into their small precious faces with so much love, joy, and hope in my heart.  Even today most of my hopes rest on them and their futures.

I hope they travel through this life armed with faith and hope.   I hope the L0rd will follow them all the days of their lives protecting them and healing them when needed.  No matter what they choose to do in life, I hope they discover what makes their hearts beat with passion, what makes them the most happy, and I hope no matter what, they approach life with wonder and joy.  If they find what makes them happy, I hope they grasp it with both hands and never let go.  Most of all, I hope they dance.

I hope I live long enough to watch them grow, fall in love, marry, and have children of their own.  I hope to see my grandchildren one day, spoil them with hugs and kisses, and hold them in my arms.  I hope to have the whole lot over for big holiday meals filled with laughter and tasty food.

I hope that my husband and I will have many long happy years together.  No matter how lean things may be, I hope our hearts will always be able to focus on the joy of life instead of on the sorrow.  I hope we have the strength to see us through whatever we must.  I hope when life is drawing to a close we are together.  I hope we dance.  Having faith, hope, and trust and a pinch of pixie dust allowed Peter Pan to fly.  With the same faith, hope, and trust I hope I not only soar through life with a smile on my face and a giggle in my heart, I hope more than anything that I dance.  Ideally I hope I am always surrounded by the people I love best and the furry friends that I adore.

No matter what life holds for me, I hope more than anything I will always have the ability to find happiness and a reason to dance until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.

The Wonders of the Season

There is no greater feeling of wonder than what comes over most people during the holiday season. No matter how bad things are, there is something about Christmas that brings hope, joy, and wonder into your life. No matter how bleak things appear, there is no greater wonder than being with the ones you love to celebrate the most famous birthday of all.

Imagine that long ago winter night when the shepherds were in the field watching over their flocks and the angel of the L0rd appeared to them announcing the birth of the newborn king. I can’t imagine a more wondrous sight! Certainly it would have scared the living hell out of them, but once they got over that they probably were amazed by the sight they beheld. How wondrous to imagine that one day this small baby with such humble beginnings would save us all as long as we believed.

Traditions were born and swirled around the miraculous birth and the extraordinary gifts given by the wise men that long ago night. Because of the gifts presented to the new born king, we now celebrate by exchanging gifts on Christmas day.

The idea of love, goodwill, and peace on earth helped to form another tradition formulated around the mythical figure of Santa Claus who represents all that is good and right with the world. How appropriate that Santa Claus delivers his gifts to good children on the eve of the anniversary of the most wondrous birth in history.

Christmas is the only holiday which is full of wonder, magic, and joy for all those who believe. With my husband coming home for Christmas, the magic and joy typical of the holiday season prevalent, finally for the first time since he left after Thanksgiving, I am filled with wonder and hope.

For all of you who have been so kind to stop and read my words, I wish you a very Merry Christmas. May the wonder of the holiday season, no matter how you celebrate, fill you with great happiness and hope and may your Christmas be filled with blessings. That is all I have to say until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.
