If only you were here you would have helped me and I wouldn’t
have had to figure out what to do alone.
I would have never learned to stand on my own two feet. I would never have been independent. I would have continued to depend on you
completely. I would never have become the “me” I am today.
I would have continued to work because you would have babysat the kids willingly. I would have missed precious milestones but memories would have happily included you. How happy we could have all been living our lives in parallel, if only….

ReplyDeletebeachlover, I know that everything happens for a reason and truly believe that in God's bigger plan that there are reasons people die when they do. Their job here on earth is finished so they go on. Sometimes you can't see through that in the throes of grief but in hindsight it becomes more apparent how it truly affects a person's life and how it charts its course. DeleteDeath does us apart. Yet, death cannot steal our memories. Instead, it refreshes our memories of the departed, helps us realize their true value and makes us love them more.

Geeta, it is amazing how death does recharge our memories. We are so desperate to keep them with us, the memories are magnified and clung to like a life line to that person. When my folks died I surrounded myself with their pictures, their clothes...everything that would remind me they were still around. I simply didn't want to lose them completely and was terrified I would forget them. I haven't and have been able to keep their memory alive for my children.
