The Money Pit

Frantically I dash from one end of the house to the other placing assorted pots, pans, and buckets.

Outside the rain pisses down.  Inside persistent dripping taunts and my tears roll quickly in silent desperation.  Damn roof!  Damn house!  Damn weather forecast!

  1. I've been feeling just like this lately, Kathy! Makes me want to go live in a tent.

  6. That happened to my mom last year after heavy snow and a rapid thaw! Needless to say she got that part of the roof replaced.

  7. Great writing Kathy! I went through this a couple times, having to place newspapers on the floor with buckets and anything I could find to catch the water. You captured the accurate emotions of frustrations very nicely.

    2. Anytime! (Well, anytime that I'm actually online. I'll be taking a break for the holidays. Will you?)

    3. Crystal, my husband is coming home for the long Thanksgiving weekend and my kids will be home...so I think a break is in order. He hasn't been home since Halloween weekend...so I am ready to see him again! Besides...my brain is already on holiday. I don't seem to have any words this week...so instead of forcing the issue I believe I will just sit it out.

  14. Oh, that would be frustrating! Thank goodness I haven't had that experience (knock on wood) but some of that has gone on at the office building I work in.

    1. jannatwrites, I have had about everything else go wrong with the house while my husband has been conveniently on the road, but never the roof leaking. It was in our contract that the roof would be replaced when we signed on and it has been...so that is one thing we don't have to worry about. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

    1. Rajlakshmi, I was referring to the fact that usually as houses and anything grows older more things go on. With that, you need repairs which cost lots of money. Therefore the Money Pit. You just keep throwing money at it and trying to fix everything and then something else goes wrong. I struggle with titles. :P Thanks so much for stopping in and for your comments. I hope I have explained my reasoning adequately! ♥

  22. We've been getting rain up here, too. Problem is that it sticks to the road and sidewalks. I hit an icy patch last night; endedup flat on my back. Oh, the pain and indignity of it all! So, I feel some of your pain.

    Blessings and Bear hugs!
