This Thursday I found many reasons to smile and count my blessings. The smiles began when I went to my son’s school to have lunch with him. The smile on his face when he saw me was priceless. The way my son runs up to greet me with a smile that could light up the room and embraces me with a warm hug warms my heart. Sharing in the giggles over lunch with my son and his friends was priceless.
Shortly after I arrived back home, my husband came home for the weekend. There is nothing that makes me happier in the world than to see my husband’s semi truck backing into the driveway. Every visit is a special treat.
Even more priceless was the smiles and elation on my children’s faces when they stepped off their buses and seen that their Daddy was home. My son was so excited he fell on his face in the snow in his rush to get into the house to see his Daddy. It was repeat performance as my daughter slip and slid in the snow yelling “Daddy!” as she burst into the front door. My husband’s homecomings makes all of us smile.
After all the homecomings we went out for pizza which is always a treat. I am thankful I completed my first Web Design class successfully. I am thankful that I started another one. I am thankful my family is together for the weekend, and I am thankful for each and every one of you. I am thankful for Larissa and her fun Tidbit Thursday Party at"Papa is a Preacher"! That pretty much sums up my day full of tidbits. Bless each and every one of you until next time I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.
I have been bluer than a comfortable pair of blue jeans lately. Today after getting over another migraine I decided I needed a reason to smile. My first stop was You Tube. Music really soothes the soul and LMFAO’s video “I’m Sexy and I Know it!” cracks me up. Seriously, can you honestly watch that video, feel the beat, and see all those geeky guys wiggle, wiggle, wiggling their twig and giggle berries without laughing? I certainly can’t. It is also a song I can’t resist dancing to. I crank the volume and the kids and I get our jam on. My son loves to “wiggle”. G0d help me, he has the makings of a male stripper. When I am with my kids, I don’t even need an Alabama Slammer to get up and shake my groove thing when that song comes on.
I smile when my kids shower me with their love. Seriously is there anything better than having your kid come up to you out of the clear blue sky, smile their precious smile, and say “I love you Mommy!!” No, I didn’t think so either. It gets me every time!! Their hugs, kisses, and drawings are some of the best things life has to offer. Knowing my husband is coming home makes me smile. The cat purring contentedly and my dogs snuggling around me no matter where I am makes me happy.
Tonight I took my kids to my son’s elementary school for the “Back to School Ice Cream Social”. You can go tour the school, meet your kid’s teacher, and top if off with free ice cream. I had to be the odd ball. Both the kids had their ice cream smothered with chocolate. Me? I had to have my ice cream smothered with strawberries!! I am smiling just thinking about it.
Smiles lead to laughter and since everyone in my house honed their funny bone on Eddie Murphy’s humor, an off the wall comment like “Remember that fart you once made” leaves me laughing so hard tears are streaming down my face, snot is blowing out of my nose, and I am choking on myself. Why are farts so funny? They just are!! The funniest thing is I can remember some momentous farts from the past that still leave me laughing so hard I have to make a mad dash to the toilet so I don’t pee my pants!! There was the time my Grandma farted in front of everyone and my sister proclaimed “Ewww, who $hit?” to my parents mortification. To my knowledge my Grandma never farted as freely ever again. There was also the time my Dad farted on the cat. The cat let out a yowl, jumped about three feet high, and took off like a bat out of hell to get away from the smell. You know, remembering moments like that make me smile!!
There are a million reasons to smile, and even more reasons to laugh. The world would be a better place if everyone would just lighten up, and smile or laugh out loud. Who wants to be all pious and straight faced? So smile, laugh out loud, and live a little. It will make everyone wonder what the hell you have been up to until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.
One of the most vivid memories I have of my wedding day was my husband’s smile radiating happiness. I will never forget it. It made me weak in the knees and my breath caught. His eyes sparkled and you could just feel the love radiate from them for only me. I felt like we were the only ones in the room, or in the universe. That sweet smilewas what did me in the first time I met him, and has the ability to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to this day.
When you finally have kids you come to realize that their little smiles have a way of brightening a whole room and warming your heart. I still remember the thrill that went through me when each of my children first smiled at me. To be perfectly honest, their little smiles still get me.
I have had a lot of family members who have went onto heaven and what I remember most about each of them is their smiles. I remember the laughter. I remember the silly things they said or did, and the laughter and smiles it caused. It amazes me how my brain has managed to fade bad times into the recesses and brought the happy times of hilarity forward in full vivid color.
Like a good case of the giggles, smiles are contagious. Although I was pretty shy growing up, I now have no problem smiling at anyone I pass in everyday life or sharing a giggle. Why act like an old sour puss? Share a smile. Share a laugh. It makes the whole world wonder what you have been up to. I may not have a lot to offer the world, but I can share a smile, a kind word, and a giggle. Smiles are free and their worth to the receiver is priceless.
People may think I am off my nut, but it is my life and if I want to go through it grinning like a fool or laughing my a$$ off at nothing in particular, it is my business. I would rather laugh than cry. I would rather smile than pout. Why walk through life looking like you just tasted $hit? Smile!!! There will always be that one person that is bent on pi$$ing on my parade. Sometimes they manage it, and I get depressed like anybody else. Then my kids smile, or something funny happens, and the giggles explode from within. Smiles are a universal language that everyone can understand. Most of the time I love life, have fun, and am happy and that is all that matters until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.
