I’m A Gummy Bear!!

Yeah, I’m a gummy bear!!  Ok, I know. You are probably wondering why but that is the kind of couple days I have had.  I simply had to share.  Most people would think that there is something really mentally wrong with me to think a gummy bear gyrating and shaking it’s a$$ is hilarious.  This is just the cherry on top of the last couple days.  I must share because it is perfect for a Friday night and not that far off from “I’m Sexy and I Know It” which I think is just as hilarious.

Yesterday I had the rare pleasure of being called in to work at my son’s school.  I am a cafeteria sub which means that when I am needed they call me in.  Yesterday was special because the kids and staff were being treated to a special Thanksgiving feast and it was all hands on deck!  I was immediately put to work placing mouth watering pumpkin rolls onto huge trays.  When the kids filed through I was the pumpkin roll girl.  They had their choice…plain sugar cookie or luscious pumpkin cake rolled up and held together with thick and creamy cream cheese frosting!  Can you tell I love cream cheese frosting?  Rest assured I was good.  I abstained from sucking the leftover frosting off my plastic gloves.

Once the kids were served it was off to the dish room to help the lady washing dishes a gazillion lunch trays.  She hosed them down and sent them through the handy dandy automatic dishwasher and I grabbed them out of the receiving end and put them away.  The best part of the whole thing is that I got not one, not two, but three big bear hugs from my son before he ate lunch, during lunch, and to say goodbye as he raced off to recess.  I was pumped with adrenalin and had a blast.  It is down right sinful to enjoy a job so much.  It is my favorite of all the schools I have worked at so far.  Bonus, they sent me home with leftovers!!

Once I got home I realized I was exhausted.  There is no rest for the wicked so when the kids got home we marched off to the mall for our 1 mile trek around its halls.  The mall staff was busy getting ready for the arrival of Santa Claus.  Christmas trees were everywhere glistening with twinkle lights.  When we got home I busted open the aluminum pans holding the leftovers and somehow managed to slice my finger.  Blood spewed everywhere.  After that, my finger was entirely too sore to type.  I was too pooped to pop.

Morning dawned and it was the usual Friday madness.  Up at the butt crack of dawn to pack lunches and get the kids on the bus and then the sickening job of figuring out just which lucky bill collectors would be blessed with a payment.  Even then I wasn’t in the mood to write.  I tried, I did.

I was determined to participate in Larissa’s linky party at “Papa is a Preacher”.  Sorry to all that I am a day late!!  I had such good intentions of being on time.  Next week, Thanksgiving or not, I am so there!!!!  Since the linky hasn’t closed yet…I am fashionably late but hopefully still in time for the last hurrah!  It is Friday night and the kids are dancing to “I’m a gummy bear” after stuffing themselves with cheese pizza and orange pop.  To be a kid again!!

I was good and ate exactly what was prescribed on my diet sheet: lots of veggies, fruit, and a turkey burger in the perfect size portion.  Am I good or what?  Not quite to the point of singing “I’m sexy and I know it” but I’m working on it until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.

W is for Walk

When we are babies our first biggest accomplishment is learning how to walk.  We start out rolling, move on to crawling, pull ourselves up, cruise, and eventually we learn to walk.

When bad things happen, we find our inner strength and learn how to walk away a winner.

From there we learn a new way to walk.

We may never master walking on water,

but hopefully at some point we will discover the joy of walking on sunshine.

No matter how we walk, we are burning calories, feeling energized, and getting from point A to point B on our individual journey's through life until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.

Energy

Ever since the Writer’s Post blog hop challenge was posted Thursday I have been trying to figure out what to write about energy.  What do I know about it??  All I have been able to come up with is that I need more of it!!  I could have written a long drawn out post about the benefits of solar power or some other equally scientific rambling that in the long run I didn’t truly give a rat’s a$$ about.  I racked my brain for ways to get energized from eating, sleeping, to the wild idea of sticking energizer batteries up my butt.  It works for that little pink bunny after all!!  Honestly, I am being silly.  Don't anyone try that one at home!!

When I searched the internet I discovered that one of the best things to elevate the old energy level was to exercise. Yes, you read that right!  Another biggie is to drink plenty of water.  Sure you can guzzle pop loaded with caffeine, but I have found that really wasn’t giving me a boost.  Aside from the increased need to pee, I still felt lackluster and depleted.  Even after sleeping in this morning, I still felt exhausted.  Since Santa Claus decided to leave a pedometer in my Christmas sock, the idea of walking had been planted in my brains for quite a while.  I decided even though it was a bit chilly out today I wanted to test out this theory.  Would a little exercise put lead in my pencil and give me the kick in the a$$ I needed to get on with life with a smile on my face?

Armed with my pedometer, my kids and I took off for a walk that took us to my son’s school and back.  While we were there the kids enjoyed time on the playground while I played Angry Birds on my cell phone while swinging.  We took an old ball with us from home and eventually yours truly participated in a rousing game of kick ball.  It was fun!  I got a little winded, but hey!  No one can say I didn’t exercise.  My kids were shocked to see me run.  Yes, I CAN run.  I was on the cross country team in high school.  This was no marathon though.  It was a little sprinting to a base.  Still it was more running than I had done in years.  As the minutes on the clock ticked past 6:00 pm, we started back.  Amazingly enough when I reached home I no longer felt exhausted.  I felt energized!  The cold air had cleared my head of cobwebs.  I arrived home ready to take on the world. I could kick start a 747.  Well maybe not, but you get the idea.  I feel like I am on the top of the world and can just about take on anything.

Before I left I had looked up just how many steps equaled a mile.  I knew from that search that about 2000 steps equaled approximately a  mile and was thrilled to realize upon arriving home that I had traveled over 2 ½ miles on my own power.  Not only did I not die from the added extra exertion, I actually felt really good!

Who would have believed that getting out and exercising would really truly help me feel  more alive than I had felt in days?  I had felt so tired and depleted before the walk.  Amazing that walking 2 ½ miles and playing kick ball with my kids would give me the jump start of energy I desperately needed, but it did.  A little exercise made all the difference in the world until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.
