Surprise Visitor

Cutlery clinked amid subdued tears, sniffs.   Mr. Whiskers disappeared, vanished.

Then bang! Scratch, a growl.   Icy terror gripped my heart.

Slowly I investigated, opening the drawer, peering apprehensively at the exposed heat duct below.  A raccoon? A skunk? Then “Meow!” The cat!

  4. How timely that you posted this story. One of my friends is in the process of moving and thought her cat darted outside when the movers left the door open last night. She was bereft, as you can well imagine. But great news.....she was hiding in the crawl space in the basement!!!!!

  5. Cats have such a knack for hiding, don't they? Mine used to leap from the washing machine up to some shelves, then disappear into the tiled ceiling. Loved this reflection here, Kathy!

  8. Cats! They get into everything - but I love them (we have three in our house, and each get into varying degrees of mischief :) )

    1. jannatwrites, I always loved cats too but then my husband talked me into getting dogs...and mysteriously the cats vanished from my life. My husband hates cats...so he got his way. Thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

  9. Loved the visualization and the crisp usage of sounds at the right times :). Don't know much about cats, but that sounded like a nice discovery after the initial worry!

  10. There's nothing like all your family including the 'cat' being at home where they're "supposed to be" but not in the heat duct! ;) That must have been such a relief! Whew! ;) <3
