Sunlight dancing
through the canopy of trees provided a kaleidoscope of flickering shadows on
the forest floor. It was one of the reasons
Cassie sought sanctuary within its fragrant depths. A safe haven, here she could escape, blend
in, and find refuge.
Surrounded by
towering oaks, she felt protected. She sang,
danced, and chased shadows. Her
imagination unleashed, she penned stories and created illustrations of the
beings she imagined lived there: unicorns, dragons, and fairies.
Years later, the avenue of towering trees were woefully
replaced by condos and street lamps. Illusions
gone, only memories remain of that distant enchanted place.

Something, I can woefully relate to. So much development, I drive by places and think about how it looked years ago.
ReplyDeleteAnn, It kind of blows me away. I always marvel at how much the world has changed since my parents passed away, my dad in 2004 and my mom in 1993, and marvel at the notion that they wouldn't recognize the place! Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥
DeleteThis is happening all over. Green canopy being replaced with concrete towers.

DeleteAs much as how we want to preseve the flourishing vegetation in our surroundings, as much as how we take the emotional pain when things are gone just because of the modern civilization. I don't blame the modernization, there are just things that is out of our control.
DeleteLeomar, you are right. It is progress and the way things are. Things change and evolve. It is life. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments! ♥
