Tears fell
as Kara packed her bag. Another trip to
the emergency room revealed her husband had broken her arm, split her lip, and
given her another black eye this time.
“Damn woman,
you are always sick. You really are a
worthless bitch.” He taunted before hurling a beer bottle at her. She couldn’t help the allergies that had
plagued her since childhood. A quick
apology only egged him on.
As she picked herself up, she spied her 5 year old cowering in the corner and vowed
this would end for her son’s sake, and her own.
Never again.

DeleteWell done, Kathy. You really made us all dislike that husband, the slime bag. Glad to hear she gets away for the sake of her child. Some women don't and feel trapped. Domestic abuse is such an awful thing.
ReplyDeleteCathy, speaking from first hand experience you feel that it is your fault and that in some way you deserve the beatings. In my experience once the abuser crosses that line, a person can summon the courage to get away and put an end to the abuse. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

DeleteVery powerful story. I do hope more women would move out of abusive relationships. Ironically, many cite their children as an excuse to stay.
ReplyDeleteCorinne, you would think that would be the number one reason to leave...to keep the kids safe. I am so pleased you enjoyed my story. Thank you for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥
