#MondayMusings

It’s Monday, so it’s time to muse!  Today I am rocking out to pure nostalgia.  Anyone who knows me at all knows I am passionate about music, and if you know that much about me, you might also know that I love movies and own a vast collection.  This weekend I indulged myself and updated my collection with a DVD of “Dirty Dancing”While I have the video cassette, I no longer have a VCR.  Because of that fact, I have been steadily beefing up my DVD collection with some of the titles I love that I have on VHS so I can actually watch them again!

With “Dirty Dancing”, I get the best of both worlds…amazing music and a coming of age romance that tugs at the ole heart strings for the bargain price of $5.00.  Now you can see why I couldn’t simply walk past this one.    I LOVE this movie.  It was released in 1987, a year after I graduated from high school.  My daughter and I sang along to all the songs, and I find myself still singing them today.  I have them cranked to full blast on Spotify as I write this.  If you haven’t seen it, you must!  If you have seen it, you must see it again.  It is well worth the effort.

It was one lazy ass weekend at my house, staying up late watching movies, playing cards, and sleeping in until late into the afternoon.  Saturday was made better with a Notre Dame win, and Sunday was dominated with grocery shopping, dishes, house cleaning, and laundry.  I even managed to get a bit of knitting done!  Thanks to 4-H and my tutelage, my daughter is quite the baker so while I cleaned, my daughter made bread bowls which were filled more than once with homemade steaming hot chili topped with melted cheddar cheese and then promptly devoured.  I love weekends.  There is nothing I look forward to more, and unfortunately, there is nothing that passes quicker than a weekend.

    1. Pat, actually...I kind of prefer them. I don't limit myself to daylight hours...so if I don't get my act together during the day, there are 24 hours in a day and I take advantage of the others. I am lucky not to have a strict timetable I need to adhere to. I just go with the flow and do one thing at a time till things are done. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

    1. payal, looking back on it, I really did. It seemed a lot like summer when I stay up all hours and sleep half the day. Actually it seemed a lot more "normal" than these crazy ass school year hours I keep now. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

  6. Can I spend the weekend at your house. It sounds great. Of course that might put a glitch in your family's chill time. LOL, good times are sometimes not planned.

    1. Ann, that is why we love weekends around here so much and look forward to them so much. This weekend we simply relaxed. My daughter needed a break, so I insisted on one. She had worked constantly the previous weekends on homework ( she has a full schedule of honors classes), and this weekend she had nothing pressing that had to be done Monday...so I told her to just chill out then get back at it full force Monday night. My son is still at an age where the teachers don't believe in assigning homework for weekends. And me? I hardly ever have a train to catch. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

  7. I need to learn how to do bread bowls. I haven't even been able to find the right bread out of which to make them either. Sounds like you had a great weekend though! I've been replacing a lot of my VHS movies w/ DVDs too. Our VCR doesn't work.

    1. JoJo, I linked to the recipe we used for bread bowls and they came out amazing! Yeah those VCR's are a dying breed and they are very hard to find in the stores anymore. Last ones I seen were dual DVD/VCR combos and cost about 300.00. :P I wondered if the soup would make the bowls soggy, but they really didn't. The flavors just soaked a bit into them and made them taste that much better! Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

    1. jannatwrites, my daughter loves to cook and loves to help out in the kitchen. She loves baking and chopping stuff up...and food in general. Actually volunteers to chop stuff up. She has always done really well with her cooking projects in 4-H. My son, not so much. LOL He is more interested in eating. He is a picky eater, so he only nibbles what he likes. He did really well in his first year of 4-H creating a batch of home made potato chips. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

  10. I love Dirty Dancing and need to get a DVD copy as well. We still have a VCR, but the picture quality is terrible, played back on a High Def TV. Sounds like you had a great weekend. The bread bowls look delicious!

  11. I love lazy weekends, and that's such a great movie. Sometime I'm shocked by the movies people haven't seen because it's like, if I've seen it, it must be common knowledge.

  12. Good movies, good food and a good book to cuddle up with over a lazy weekend, is my idea of perfection. I have not seen the movie. Will look it up now. :)
