Twenty pairs
of inquisitive eyes scrutinize as my kimono pools at my feet. I model. Damn goose flesh! Blushing, I avert my eyes. Rustling newsprint. Their eyes dissect me inch by unforgiving inch. Focused.
Determined to capture my essence in two dimensions.

I LOVE this.. And maybe I can relate due to a "wardrobe malfunction" of my youth at a toga party.. Lol.. Great piece Kathy!
ReplyDeleteAngel Stew, A toga party? Awesome! I am so pleased you liked my little story. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments!
DeleteI don't know how anyone poses naked. lol Even if they have a great bod.
ReplyDeleteJoJo, the thing is about art models, they really don't have to have a great body because art students need to be able to draw all body types. I can't recall any of the models that sat for me in life drawing class having a great rack, male or female. I have actually been on the other side of this as the artist. The atmosphere is serious, and honestly you are way to busy trying to capture the pose to really worry about the fact that the person is nude in front of you. Thank you so much for stopping by to read and for your sweet comments!
DeleteYeah, that would be awkward. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteTMW, I personally could not do it. I have been behind the easel in that situation and honestly you are too busy capturing the pose on your paper to really worry about the fact that the model is naked, if that makes sense. I could never pose myself because I hate when people stare at me even with clothes on! Thanks so much for stopping by to read and for your sweet comments!
DeleteI was such a prude as a young adult. If I had that body again, I would pose. LOL
ReplyDeleteAnn, wow...you go girl. Seriously though, art students need models of all ages with all body types because the world is full of all kinds of different types of people to draw. You really would be surprised, and they have clothed models too. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! I am so pleased you enjoyed reading my little story.
DeleteI really like this....well done.
ReplyDeleteTooie, I am so pleased you liked this one! I put so much effort in this particular story, it is almost scary. Of course, in hindsight, I have discovered that if I go at a story with this level of intensity, I end up writing some of my best work. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments!
DeleteThat's fantastic. You write so well in such a short space.

D Biswas, I am so pleased you enjoyed my story. Blogger can be a bit touchy and I appreciate the link so I can visit you. I find when I am commenting that so many profiles are linked to google plus pages and it isn't always easy to figure out which links actually lead me to the website that belongs to the person who visited me. It is very frustrating, and I wish Google + would make things a bit easier in that regard. You would think that all blogging platforms would strive to be compatible with each other so that their bloggers could interact with each other. After all, isn't the whole point of blogging to have a conversation? Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments.
DeleteGood one
ReplyDeleteRuby, I am so pleased you liked it! Thanks so much for stopping by to read it and for your sweet comments!
DeleteEyes always scruitinize! Gutsy girl. And a brilliant write up.
ReplyDeleteAjay, they scrutinize and judge whether we have our clothes on or not. I am so pleased you enjoyed reading my story. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments!
DeleteLoved this Kathy!!! Especially how you used "inch by unforgiving inch."
ReplyDeleteAditi, I am so happy you liked it! Thanks so much for stopping by to read and for your sweet comments!
DeleteI wonder how long one has to stay in this frozen position. Hands must be paining.....
ReplyDeleteHaddock, in my experience, the poses can be as quick as 60 seconds and as long as 15 minutes, with the shorter time periods goal to simply capture the essence of the pose and the longer time periods goals to not only capture the essence but to also have details. As the artist, drawing is a discipline, and being able to draw well from life, a must. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments!
DeleteIt must take so much courage not t mention strength to do this!
ReplyDeleteNabanita, I couldn't do it. I can barely handle having someone look at me with my clothes on, let alone without! Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments!
DeleteOh wow, I like this! Especially the errant thought, "Damn goose flesh!"
ReplyDeleteMichaela, I am so pleased you liked my story! Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments!
DeleteA tough choice for a profession! You have captured her thoughts beautifully, Kathy! ♥
ReplyDeleteShilpa, honestly posing nude doesn't really pay well enough to be anything but a part time gig. It would be extra money though. I am so pleased you enjoyed my story. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments!
DeleteI wish I had the body and the courage to be as brave as that model!!
ReplyDeleteholli, me too! Thanks so much for stopping by to read my story and for your sweet comments! ♥
DeleteReally tough to model bare naked. Wonder what compels people to do it, apart from Art, of course.
ReplyDeleteShailaja, I personally couldn't do it. I imagine that people do it for the easy extra money. I was curious so I researched how much art models were paid to bare all. They generally seem to get between $20-$30 a hour. Classes usually run about 2-3 hours, and it isn't steady work, so it wouldn't pay the bills. Thanks for stopping by to read and for your sweet comments! ♥
DeleteNicely penned thoughts, Kathy. I liked the way you wrote," inch by unforgiving inch."
ReplyDeletepayal, I am so pleased you liked it! Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥
DeleteOh there is no way in the world I could ever do that. EVER! Shoot, I'd be beside myself with nerves wearing a turtle neck sweater and jeans. I don't like people looking at me.
ReplyDeletejannatwrites, lol, me either. My motto is take a picture it will last longer! AND besides staring is rude! I could never do it. Thanks so much for stopping by to read and for your sweet comments! I am so pleased you liked my story! ♥
DeleteReally enjoyed this. You do a great job of bringing us into her moment. For a 2d character, I find her remarkably fully developed! ;)
