My Little Sister

I don't have a little sister so this 100 word story written for "Write Tribe's 100 words on Saturday" is purely fictional.

100 Words on Saturday - Write Tribe

She threw a “know it all” look at me before smiling angelically and begging for some candy.   Daddy picked her up and showered her with kisses as I watched.  Then he did the unthinkable.  He gave HER the candy he had denied ME only moments before.

“Rot my teeth!  Spoil my supper!” he had said.  With tears threatening, I glared at her before I fled to my room prepared to hate her forever.  How could he be so cruel?

Moments later she raced into my room, bounced onto my bed, and unloaded all the sweets before me.

      "Let’s share sissy!"

L is for Lollipops

You find them everywhere, at the grocery store, and at the bank.  Business establishments love to hand out free lollipops to kids.  Every time I go to the bank I see the cups full of them on top of the counter tempting anyone who doesn’t have the willpower to just say no.

I am just as guilty as any.  Free candy?  Hell yes! Count me in!  Who can just take one?  What harm is there in just one innocent lollipop?  Your little darling loves them so!!  The next thing you know the kids are sneaking more than one.  When I was a kid, I loved lollipops.  I would go through tons while I read countless books.

All of a sudden the Day of Judgment comes.  You are sitting beside your kid in the dentist office in complete shock as the dentist lowers the boom.  Those innocent lollipops did their damage.  Sugar on a stick the dentist calls them and the result is a mouthful of cavities in need of a mouthful of stainless steel crowns.  Thousands of dollars later the lesson has been learned the hard way.  Was the pain, agony, and dentists bill worth the aggravation?  My guess would be no, probably not.
