Parody: Rock Star or Pop Star?

The dictionary states that a parody is in fact a written or musical work where the original is mimicked for comic effect.  I have thought about this challenge all week, and like someone who is standing at the edge of the open door of a plane working up the courage to hurl myself thousands of feet to my doom with only a parachute to save me, I have waited and contemplated what in the name of G0d I could submit on this topic.  Since my life tends to proceed to the beat of my favorite tunes it only seems fitting that I would end up cruising You Tube for inspiration.

What I discovered was a parody of one of my favorite tunes performed by Nickelback.  Instead of wanting to be a rock star like the famous band, the parody focuses on being a pop star.  I have watched both and really contemplated the implications of the words to both songs and I have decided I would much rather be a rock star than a pop star.     I would much rather dress my a$$ in the latest fashions and hang out in the coolest bars with the VIPS and the movie stars than lose all sense of decency,  sell out all my integrity, and end up shaving my head or in jail.  Both versions hold a grain of truth.

Would you rather be a rock star?

Or would you rather be a pop star?

What lifestyle suits  you best, the reality or the parody?  That is all I have to say about parodies until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker's wife.
