Guilty


      Sweat beaded up on my brow. My heart raced. She couldn’t have seen.    She was only five years old.  I had nothing to worry about! Her testimony would convict me. I did kill him.  He deserved it. Surely they wouldn’t believe her!

V is for Verdict








     The jurors file solemnly back into the box one by one.  Not one glanced his way. Yet they held his fate in their hands.  He stood, staring straight ahead awaiting their decision. 




    

        He thought of his precious wife Melanie lying dead in a pool of blood.  “We the jury, find the defendant guilty of murder.”
