NaBloPoMo asks:
What food brings you intense joy to eat?
Blueberries, Strawberries,and Cotton Candy!!
That is nothing compared to how mad she was when she took me to pick blueberries when I was a little girl. While she picked away I scurried underneath the bush and while hidden by the branches ate to my hearts content. Oh I picked too. For every one blueberry in my bucket, I ate 5-6. After a long time had passed, my mother had filled two large buckets overflowing with big, juicy blueberries. When she finally went looking for me under the bottom branches she found me with very few berries in my bucket complete with blue hands and a blue face. Even though I eventually grew to big to hide away under the branches and eventually seen how rewarding a full bucket of berries could be, she never let me forget that one afternoon hidden beneath the blueberry bush when I ate my full.
Besides strawberries and blueberries, I take great pleasure in eating cotton candy. Excuse me while my mouth waters!! I just can not get enough of these things!!!! Simply eating these few things is the closest thing to heaven on earth I can imagine until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.
I have two pots of strawberry plants that I plants 3 years ago. And guess what! This is the first year I actually am seeing some FRUIT!
ReplyDeleteSandra, that is so exciting! We tried to grow strawberries and they just never did much. We kind of gave up on them. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments!

DeleteAt least the strawberries and blueberries are healthy...cotton candy...not so much. I bet you had a blast picking the fruits. I remember great times going across the river to pick Illinois apples off the trees. That was quite a thrill.

Joyce, cotton candy is a rare treat and one I only usually get to indulge in when the county fair rolls around. The other two, I eat whenever I get the chance. I always enjoyed picking berries with my mom once I got older and have wonderful memories of those times. Now a days I just don't handle the heat well so I tend to go to the patch and buy the berries already picked. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments!
DeleteI enjoyed reading this post. I tried growing strawberries a few years now and it was hysterical as the berries would be growing and as soon as they were ready to be picked they would disappear courtesy of some birds or critters....I tried netting etc..so funny...I gave up. I am growing blueberries this year and they are green yet, hoping to get a few to eat this year...I can hope....
ReplyDeleteWinnie, those crazy birds!! I would love to fill my backyard with blueberry bushes. I would be in 7th heaven all summer long! LOL Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments!♥
