Unexpected

I have found that some of the most hilarious and potentially embarrassing moments in my life have been unexpected.  They are the moments that are remembered with a giggle, a slight blush, and even a roll of the eyes.  $hit happens and you just got to roll with it.  At the time, you may laugh or you may be so mortified you wished the earth would swallow you whole but you go on and laugh till you cry at the mere memory.

One time while riding in the car with my mom years ago we were following a fully loaded school bus.  All of a sudden, every teenage kid in the back seat stood up, pulled their pants down and stuck their bare a$$es in the back window for our viewing pleasure.  Only a second elapsed before we both busted up in uproarious laughter.  We laughed till we cried.  Because of that little display, my mom mooned me occasionally and I mooned her back.  You never knew when it was coming.  It was always unexpected and always hilarious.  To this day I have the tendency to moon people and run away laughing hysterically.  I admit it.  I do it.  It is a great way to turn that frown upside down if you know what I mean.

Another time my Dad brought home a whoopee cushion.  You never knew where that whoopee cushion was going to turn up.  One time we planted it on the old antique wooden rocker in the living room and waited for the arrival of my sister.  Unexpectedly she sat in the chair and a fart loud enough to shake the rafters was emitted to my sister’s shock and to our glee.  She jumped about two feet off that chair before collapsing.  Moments like that are priceless and live on in my memory to this day.

One hot summer day my Dad and I took off for Great America for a day of fun on a whim.  We were bored and itching for some fun.  Standing in one of the thoroughfares of the park was this colorful merry go round rooster.  I jokingly urged my Dad to get up on that chicken so I could take his picture.  He looked so ridiculous I simply could NOT stop laughing.  With a big toothy grin on his face he flipped me off.  I snapped the picture and ironically it remains my most favorite picture of my Dad to this day.  After that my Dad flipped me off every time I whipped out my camera.  I was certain my daughter would be born flipping me off.  Fortunately she wasn’t, but she did enter the world feet first  spraying the doctor with her first healthy pee which I am sure that little baptism of fire was unexpected for him.

Since then I have been plagued with even more unexpected embarrassing moments from that fart that unexpectedly amounted to a bit more to that grand entrance at the local library’s most recent appearance of Ronald McDonald  when I went to sit on the floor and unexpectedly ripped the seat of my pants.  Thank G0d and sunny Je$us I make a regular habit of wearing long shirts in an effort to draw attention away from my butt so I could back against a wall shelved with books and enjoy watching my son stealing the show as he helped Ronald with one of his many tricks.

Life is full of the unexpected.  A lot of the time the unexpected can lead to embarrassment.  Sometimes it can lead to disaster.  All times it leads to precious memories,  you laugh, you go again until something else embarrassing or funny happens.  Here I go again until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.
