C is for Chase

Rich loved drag racing.  Always ready for the next challenge, his ‘67 mustang was powered with a sweet V-8 428 engine.  With a glance at the competition, he revved the engine.

A red flag few in the air.  He stomped the accelerator to the floor burying the speedometer.  Unfortunately, soon flashing red lights chased behind.

    1. Bharat, probably a hefty fine and maybe a trip to the jail? Hard to say! This story was inspired by a true life experience of my Dad's. He used to drag race on the country roads. One night he led the police on a high speed chase away from the drag race he was participating in. They pursued him because someone had robbed a bank and had gotten away in a car similar to his. He ended up spending the night in jail until they could sort things out and left with a hefty ticket for going over 100 mph and he made the front page of the local newspaper for his antics. That was back in the 1950's. :D Thank you for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

  15. Wonderful writing Kathy, and done so effectively with few words. A cop died last week because he was speeding and ran under a trailer, which was parked off the road. It made me wonder how many tickets he gave out the day before.
