Hurrying along the old stone wall in the
woods, they checked periodically to make sure they weren’t being followed. This is where they hid it years ago.
“This is it!” Kara exclaimed in
excitement. They dropped to their knees
and frantically began to dig. It didn’t
take long to unearth the box. Inside a tattered
book, to the naked eye, it held a worthless catalog. Within, the secrets to their universe: crimes
they committed and where all the money was hidden.
"Remember," Ben warned, "If you don't find it in the index, look
very carefully through the entire catalogue."
A 100 word fictional story written for the Friday writing prompt at Light and Shade Writing Challenge where we were inspired by a quote and a picture prompt.
There was money inside the book?
