Nature is very destructive, that's for sure. I lived in volcano country but up there it wasn't the hot lava that would have been the problem like in Hawaii, but the lahar (giant mudslides following the rivers) from the rapidly melting glaciers, as all the volcanoes in WA are covered in ice and snow year round, and all the rivers in Western WA originate up on the mountains.
