Goals?

In 2015 I haven’t really made any writing resolutions to speak of.   If anything, I have made a conscious effort to at least post every week and write something as my interest in the hobby seems to be waning a bit.

Last year I made a New Year’s resolution only because a writing prompt more or less forced me to name one.  I did, and as fate would have it, I failed miserably.  I mean with the goal of laughing more and worrying less as a resolution, what could possibly go wrong?  Well stupid me!  Life stepped in and shit happened giving me plenty to worry about and little to be happy for.  By December I had sunk into such a deep pit of depression I found it very hard to truly look forward to Christmas in any capacity which has never really happened to me before in that degree.  Therefore, I am kind of against making goals of any sort.  I live each day one day at a time and am thankful on the most part I got through each one with my sanity.    Living life as it comes seems to work for me and I believe helps to keep the stress level to a minimum.

Setting goals and not meeting them is depressing so I tend to avoid that exercise.  I try to expect less and then when I get more I am happy, and being happy is key.

  1. And that, my friend, is why I no longer make resolutions. I'm sick of setting myself up for failure. Like last year after we set our wedding date and I threw myself into dieting and walking and didn't lose a single pound. It's pointless. I just live my life day to day and do what I want to do. The things that do make me happy like crafts and colouring and cooking and beachcombing.

    1. JoJo, it does seem like a no win situation. Like you, I would rather just be happy day to day doing what I love. Thank you for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

  2. We always put more pressure on ourselves than other people do. "One day at a time" and "Do what you love" are good philosophies, along with "Go with the flow". ☺ That said, I think your writing talent is huge! Wishing you all the best for a Happy New Year.

    1. Debbie, you are so sweet. Thank you for the words of encouragement and for stopping by to read and for your sweet comments! For the longest time I felt so bad because I wasn't able to post daily...but now, I took the pressure off and post when the spirit moves me and I am inspired to do so. ♥

  6. Happy is the key, Kathy, and letting the chips fall as they may. I don't make resolutions, I choose a word for the year. For 2015, it's "wonder." How can I go wrong when in the midst of chaos and uncertainty,I retreat into my inner child and greet every mishap as opportunity?
    Blessings to you, my dear!

  8. Yes I am also not into making resolutions etc... As long as we know the big picture of what we want in life we have to trust the process and go with the flow of things. Too much planning and goal-setting only adds to the pressure and takes away the joy of living. Wishing you the best for 2015.

  10. I agree with you kathy :) I find it difficult to keep the resolutions. So I usually avoid them, as much as I can. Better to face life head on than to set resolutions and fail in sticking by them!

  13. Makes sense Kathy... I have some plans but I don't have a sketch of how and when I need to fulfil those...It's just some of my wishes that I want to fulfill and if that happens this year nothing could be better

  14. You know what, I'm with you on the goal-setting. I don't do New Years resolutions because they are destined to fail. I kept trying to make writing goals and would be discouraged when life happened and I failed. I think living for happiness today is a great goal. I'm glad to see you post when you can and I hope your spirits remain lifted :)

    1. jannatwrites, my spirits are lifting gradually and I am feeling better about me so that's a good thing. I think a lot of it was taking the pressure off of myself..do my best and the hell with perfection. Letting things go that I can't do anything about anyways. Thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comments. They mean an awful lot. ♥

  15. Resolutions generally don't work and I do not set them. However, daily goals or priorities I do set as that gets things that need attention and completion. You may appreciate this post: http://xpressyouressence.blogspot.ca/2014/12/out-with-old-in-with-new_31.html ;) <3
