I turn tailed in a quick hurry and rushed out to my computer to write my submission for the letter R. “Mommy!” a small voice calls. UGH. I set my daughter up in the middle of my bed, propped up with pillows with a full arsenal surrounding her to keep her entertained. Several pillows, her glasses for reading, her latest book, her DS and games, a big bowl to puke in, and some Kleenex. That should keep her under control while I write my blog!
Deciding to be productive I filled the washing machine with laundry and added detergent. That is when it happened! I dropped the stupid laundry detergent on the floor and precious soap was oozing out at an alarming rate. I can not afford to waste soap, especially not on a week where every penny counts. Inspiration hit and before a second past I grabbed my flexible cutting board and a rubber spatula and was scrapping the lost detergent off the floor and into the jug. I felt pretty accomplished on my save, a tad desperate perhaps, but accomplished. I am WOMAN!! Hear me roar!
Mommy!!! Away I go again! Now I am searching for a Harry Potter DS game. You put it where? You put it in your shoe? What the hell!! Can’t anyone find a better place in this house to put DS games than in a shoe? Why ask why? Just find it!! The phone is ringing. Mad dashes back to the living room searching for my cell phone. It is my husband. Quickly explaining our first born is home sick retching with a sore throat, how much the paycheck is, and what I plan to do with it down to the last cent. He relays his plans, off to grab a load going to the opposite side of the country. Wonderful, but the bad news he probably won’t get the load turned in for next week’s paycheck so it will be small. I roll my eyes telling the love of my life we will deal with it THEN.
I have to write my R post!! Now I feel like retching!! There is too much stress!! I can’t cope. I CAN cope, and I will cope!! I will breathe. I even fixed the DVD player this morning! I feel like I am one sandwich short of a picnic and even if this retched post makes me sound like I am on the verge of free admittance to the funny farm; it is finished until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.
My daughter is home sick today, too! As soon as I picked her up yesterday afternoon the retch fest began. She wanted to go this morning but I said NOOOO WAYYYYY!!!
ReplyDeleteWe A to Z moms need to stick together... maybe put the kids in a separate space and write our hearts on the page!
A great read again today!

Julie, There must be something going around for both of our kids to be sick. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments. I didn't think I was ever going to get this post wrote with her calling "Mommy!" every little bit. :D
DeleteGOodness, us mom all have those days and I do find sadistic comfort in hearing it from others -- I too have scraped up detergent off the floor. As to retching both our boys had a virus at the same time and for some reason instead of running for the toilet they ran for our BED to retch. So you are one brave Momma to set her up in your own Momma bed nest!
ReplyDeleteAs for DS games. Damn, who they make those things so damn SMALL? Either make them bigger or LOWER the prices!
Sandra, LOL, no worries! your day will come. DS systems are pretty expensive. We waited until tax time to get the systems and some games for our kids. We just couldn't afford them at any other time. Thanks for stopping by to read and for your comments.
DeleteOh, you poor dear! It always happens, doesn't it? When one thing goes wrong, a string of other things follow. I remember the days when mine were kids!
ReplyDeletePaula, that is generally the way things go. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments.
DeleteOh lawdy lawdy lawdy. When it rains it pours!!!! So sorry your daughter is sick! And hey I understand that scraping every penny together. I had to do some creative banking this morning when my beloved w/drew money for tolls last night on his way home, leaving us perilously close to being overdrawn. This check tomorrow will go almost entirely to his run next week. Flipping diesel prices are eating waaaaay into his profits, as I am sure you husband is also complaining about! On the other hand I try not to complain b/c the poor man is running himself ragged getting in as many turns as possible each week.
ReplyDeleteJoJo, seems I will have to do some creative banking for the next couple weeks :P. My husband is a company driver so we don't have to worry about paying for his fuel. It is best to just go along and hope for the best at my house too. After all, he is doing the best he can. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments.
DeleteThis does NOT sound like a fun day, but the inventive measure you used to save the soap is very kewl.
ReplyDeleteNovember Rain, I was determined was not going to just clean that stuff up! LOLOL It worked!! Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments.
DeleteOh my what a day - having been down with the flu myself this past week, living on ginger ale and dry toast, I SO sympathize with your daughter. It's awful. Kudos on the laundry detergent save and managing the rest of the day!
ReplyDeleteAmy, at least I got a post written, survived the day, and saved some of the laundry detergent. :D Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments.
DeleteNothing's worse than 360* tail spins... but at least no one takes a picture of me when I have my head over the toilet. ;)
ReplyDeleteAs for the detergent, I'd just pick it up and throw it in the machine. No waste.

Joyce, I would probably clobber someone if they tried to do that. LOLOLOL That is where a lot of the detergent went. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments!!
DeleteHope your daughter is feeling better and can enjoy her weekend.
ReplyDeleteSeems like the rising prices of oil is affecting everyone in the world. Here in Singapore, we are facing higher costs in our daily necessities due to the high oil prices. Everything goes up except our salaries. :(
Eci Tan, I hope so too. The vomiting seems to be over and a full blown congestion has descended. That is the way it is here too. The salaries stay the same or take a cut, and prices for everything you need goes through the roof. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments!!
DeleteHere's to hoping she gets better soon!
ReplyDeleteGregg, thank you for your kind wishes, for stopping by to read, and taking the time to comment. ♥

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a hectic day.

DeleteI think I am spinning!! You had a lot going on that morning. I get mornings like that too--but not so much so lately. Yeah--I'm not looking forward to the next morning. You seemed to handle it well. LOL!!
