My Favorite Place to Be

These days when I am feeling low or when I need to get away and recharge my batteries I retreat to my happy place.  It isn’t far from my own back door.  I escape to my camper parked alongside my house.  When I step through the door, I feel as if I am transported to a whole different place.  I can imagine that I am anywhere without ever leaving home.  It doesn’t cost any money.  I don’t use any gas to get there.

I have never been able to pinpoint what is so special about my camper.  Maybe it is because it is a place that is all my own.  It is a place for fun and relaxation.  It matters little that we rarely take it on any camping trips.  What does matter is that it is there as an escape from reality.  It is a place to go to play games.  I have all of our card games, board games, and LEGO games stored out there.  When we feel like having a game day we cart chips, dips, and drinks to the camper and have our own little party.  Naturally we take the dogs with us and they love the camper as much as I do.  If they see me heading for the camper they are desperate to go too.  Once there they settle on the bed and fall happily asleep.  It is a place to go to lose myself in a book.  It is a place to go when there is no place to go.  It is my place, and without it I think there are some days I would surely go insane.

I am not sure why I love my camper so much, but I do.  I have never left home but still feel like I have.  That is what I like about it best.  I can be me.  I can laugh.  I can cry.  So as crazy as it may seem, my favorite place in the whole wide world is right outside my door.  When I am in my camper I remember what a wonderful world it is until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.

  1. Oh, heck yeah! I wouldn't really want to go camping, but a little escape place right outside your door? That sounds A-OK!

    1. Word Nerd, I never wanted to go camping either until I tried it and then I discovered it was pretty fun. You wouldn't catch me in a tent in this life or the next but my camper with all the comforts of home...hell yeah! Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments!

  2. Oh. I would love that, a camper parked in my backyard! I'd be escaping every day. Might even lock the door:)

  3. I love that idea. We have talked for years about buying a nice 5th wheel or a motorhome and just driving all over the country one day. YOU can just step across the yard and 'be' anywhere you wish to be. What a lovely idea! ♥

  5. I wish I had one! My late hubby and I used to tent camp for years. I sure miss camping. It was my happy vacation and it didn't have to be far, just nice and quiet and peaceful. I am remarried and my hubby don't camp at all..I am trying to work on him telling him about campers, but still no dice..sigh...Maybe I need one to park and visit for myself!

    1. Glen, it is a quality good time! Last night we camped out there and didn't go to bed till after 4 am. It is summer and we were carousing. I downloaded "I'm Sexy and I know it" as my ringtone and we were dancing to it and singing to it and laughing our full heads off! No wonder my youngest didn't stir till about 2 in the afternoon. We have to much fun, and I love it. I am an unconventional type of mom I think! LOL Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments. It is always nice to see you stop by!! :D ♥
