NaBloPoMo asks :
“What was the last game you played?”
The last game I played was just last night. I played a quick game of Creationary with my kids. It is a wonderful game that combines LEGOS, creativity, a LEGO die you create, and a stack of playing cards that include four distinctive building categories: nature, vehicles, buildings, and things. With a roll of the die, the category is set, a card is drawn, and it is game on! Once everyone has completed their creation, each person shows their creation to the others, and the guessing begins.
I personally love LEGO games for their flexibility. Each game includes a rule book with suggestions on game play. The fun is making your own version. In my family’s version, we simply are challenged to build what is on the card and then everyone gets a guess. We are all winners, and the fun comes in the creating and the guessing.
My kids begged to play three jerks before bedtime last night and I obliged, because that is the kind of mom I am. What can I say? I love to play games. I love the interaction with my kids, and in the case of this game, I love to try to figure out the best way to make my LEGO bricks come to life and magically represent the colorful picture on the card. All too soon, our beds beckoned. If only summer vacation was here, the game could have gone on. Unfortunately, there are a couple more weeks of school to endure. A couple more weeks of waking up at the butt crack of dawn, planners to sign, and papers to Oooo and Ahhh over before we are all granted a reprieve. What was the last game you played? Inquiring minds want to know until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.
I play wwf, hwf, draw something and euchre any chance I get. Scrabble is my favorite board game and I love to play Yahtzee with the kids. Games are a good thing! ♥
ReplyDeleteJo, I love Yahtzee and Scrabble!! My dad used to love to play euchre. Sometimes at family gatherings they would set up card tables and people would play for hours. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments Jo!! ♥
Deletecan't believe I don't know that one; my boys love the lego games by they have the other ones like the pyramid one. Is this good for 7 and 8? I love that yo make your own creations!
ReplyDeleteSandra, the box says for ages 7 and up. My son is 6 and enjoys playing it. I would think they would probably enjoy it if they like LEGOS. It is a game that everyone can enjoy. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments! ♥
DeleteLEGO sure has come a loooooong way from the set I got as a kid. I could build a square or rectangle house with a door and some windows that came with the kit, but no roof. My kit had real rubber wheels but I didn't know what to use them for. That was the extent of my LEGO ability. Kinda like the Etch a Sketch staircase. lol
ReplyDeleteJoJo, I know what you mean. I love that they have incorporated the bricks into games. I especially love this particular game because it opens up all the possibilities of things you can build. It forces the imagination to think outside the box and learn what bricks to use where. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments!! ♥
Deletewe played hopscotch outside in our backyard on the weekend. my four year old draws the squares, so sometimes jumping on them is tricky as they get smaller and smaller!!!
ReplyDeletei bought uno recently, in the hopes we could play cards when we go camping this summer-- we'll see how that flies!
Lola, I love UNO and it was a game I couldn't wait to teach my kids!! I bet they will love it! Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments! ♥

I miss kiddie games and having only grandsons our games are more of the outdoor sporty kind, which I love too. - Soon, very soon, no more up at the butt crack of dawn for you! I miss having lit'l ones in the house right up until I read that! ;)
