Life’s Opportunities

      When I saw the Writer’s Post picture prompt for this week’s blog hop the first thing that sprang to my mind was Maria’s famous quote from the award winning movie “Sound of Music”.  






      Maria said “Whenever the L0rd closes a door, somewhere He opens a window.”  What that means to me is that a person is never completely out of opportunities.  There is always a direction to go.  When I became pregnant over 11 years ago with my daughter, the door was closed on my professional life as the acquisition’s clerk of the local library.  The window to being a full time Mommy was wide open just waiting for me.  I rushed through it at full speed and have been there ever since.

         In 2009, I was beginning to wonder if all I could expect from life was the never ending wiping a$$es, noses, and mountains of laundry that seemed never ending.  I knew eventually my kids would grow up and with my husband on the road more than not I would be left entirely to my own devices.  At the time, I had a talk with G0d.  The very next day a company called me up encouraging me to write on a website they set up for money.  After agonizing endlessly about whether I could even write, I decided to grab the bull by the balls and go for the brass ring.  I invested a couple hundred bucks and began to write.  They taught me the ins and outs, and I made money.  Once I was well established, the company folded and my first website was no more. The door slammed shut, but all was not lost.

          The window was wide open to design my own blogger website which I did and The Giggling Trucker’s Wife was born.  This time around, the site literally dripped my personality all over it.  Opportunity knocked and I went for it.  I continued to write.  I am glad I did, because it has become a very important facet of my life.  I can’t imagine what I would do with myself if I didn’t write.  The continued success of this website proves to me I am right where I need to be, doing just what I was meant to do.  I honestly love it.  It gives me an outlet to express the creativity that has always been bubbling just under the surface my whole life.  It is fulfilling.

           Sometimes we agonize over things that come along in life.  It is said that everything in life happens exactly when it is supposed to and for a reason.  I believe that with every fiber of my being.  Opportunities come along in life exactly when they are supposed to.  Fate takes its course, and when opportunity knocks we should sit up, take notice, and listen until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.
