Knowing It All Could Be A Bad Thing

NaBloPoMo asks today:
If you had a superpower to know what everyone was thinking (but not saying) would you use it?

This is one prompt I just couldn’t pass up and after being lazy all weekend it was time to jump back on the NaBloPoMo band wagon.  I would LOVE to have the superpower to KNOW what people were really thinking as long as I could turn it off whenever I wanted to.  There are definitely some people’s thoughts that I would be better off being in complete ignorance of.  Still there are those moments in life when I would give anything to simply KNOW so I would know how to respond.

Just think, wouldn’t growing up have been a whole lot easier if a person would have just known what people were actually thinking?  Maybe that guy that you were crushing on really liked you back, or maybe he thought you were a few sandwiches short.  Maybe you would have become friends with that person who seemed stand offish when in fact were really shy and were unsure whether you would accept them.  Wouldn’t it have been nice to know?  I definitely think so.  Of course then I can imagine knowing what everyone was really thinking would be a brain overload if not highly entertaining.  The superpower would be fun for a while, but if you could never turn it off it would get a bit old and could be especially annoying and infuriating if people were not entertaining nice thoughts.

Seriously, imagine having people around you thinking you looked ridiculous or thinking you just made a complete a$$ of yourself.  In the long run, a person might go around pi$$ed at the world simply because they knew exactly what others were thinking but were too polite to say.  On second thought, I think I would have to pass on knowing what other people are thinking.  Once again G0d got it exactly right by designing each of us so we don’t know what everyone else is thinking.  It is far better to wing it!  Ignorance is bliss, and because of it a person can go merrily along skipping through life like a fanciful unicorn pooping rainbows oblivious.  Knowing too much could only equal to more trouble than it was worth until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.

  1. I think it would be more problematic than helpful. The truth could be hard to swallow.

  4. The only, and I do mean ONLY, thing I would want to have known was that Russell secretly liked me. Maybe we'd be celebrating our 33rd anniversary instead of our 2nd. lol The super power I want is telekinesis.

    1. JoJo, that would have been interesting, but after all...in the long run you got your answer anyways. He loves you and you are getting married. Win-Win! Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments! ♥

  5. Fun prompt! But, no way would I want to know. I think I am happier not knowing! I enjoyed my crushes even those not returned, and the thought of knowing what they thought of me may have ruined my young fantasies.. ha ha. I would love to have the power of being able to know if someone was being truthful or not. hmmmmm. That could be dangerous too, but, I think it would cut a lot of the BS out too.

    1. Winnie, that would definitely be a BS killer. LOL I agree, we are all better off not knowing. It is kind of like the tree of good and evil in the garden of Eden. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments! ♥

  7. You really make it appear so easy along with your presentation however I to find this matter to be actually something which I feel I would by no means understand. It sort of feels too complex and very extensive for me. I am looking ahead on your next submit, I’ll try to get the hang of it!

    1. Antique Silverware, it takes practice and I admit I have to be in the mood. If I am sick or depressed not a fart's worth of creative spark comes from me. It is really bad when I volunteer to write everyday, because then I find I simply can't . Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments!

  8. Totally agree. I like being ignorance and I don't care much about how others think of me as long as I can pass my own conscience.

  9. I agree...ignorance is bliss. I'm not entirely sure I would trust myself with the information found if I was able to read minds.

  10. Oh my - like they say quiet people have the loudest minds...there would be loads of problems. As much as I would love to know what others are thinking...having them "hear" my thoughts, ugh - not a good idea!

  12. Oh, that idea is fun to entertain oneself with, but in the end, I agree not a good idea. I want to believe people like me. I want to live in my fantasy! LOL
