Welcome to the kick off to week 3 of BlogFest 2012! Today’s host is Nicole at “World of My Imagination”. The writing prompt for today is to describe a scene from a book, movie, or television show that scares me the most. Most of the time I avoid all that is scary like the plague because I really don’t get my jollies getting the living be Je$us scared out of me.
The first movie that comes to mind is Alfred Hitchcock’s classic thriller “The Birds”. I will be the first to admit that there were a lot of scenes in that movie that scared the $hit out of me which is probably why birds in general freak me out to this day. I have never understood why people actually have birds for pets. The scene that freaks me out the most is probably a toss up between the scene where Melanie played by Tippi Hedren gets pecked by a million birds or the one where Jessica Tandy goes into an empty house to discover this guy with his eyes pecked out surrounded by unbelievable destruction and dead birds.
Birds, blood, guts, and gore tend to freak me out and guarantee bad dreams until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.
I found that movie so incredibly long and boring. And when I lived in CA, I used to go up to Bodega a lot and really liked seeing the old schoolhouse used in the movie (although the coast and water is not at the end of the driveway as depicted in the film, but actually about another 10 miles west). I don't like scary movies either. Except The Shining b/c Jack Nicholson is just so darn funny!
ReplyDeleteJoJo, that is cool!! I usually don't make a habit of watching scary movies and usually go for the romantic comedies or dramas. This one I had heard of before and had actually seen a long time ago. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments! ♥
DeleteOhhh i love scary movies and especially the old ones. I saw someone last year at Halloween dressed in a dress with fake birds and blood like from the movie. So cool.
ReplyDeleteHolli, what a cool idea for Halloween!! My kids are just now trying to get it planned what they want to be for Halloween. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments! ♥
DeleteI remember watching that movie as a kid. Yes, it scared me too.

Joyce, I think the forbidding music added to the scare. I have never looked at a bird the same since. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments! ♥
DeleteOh gosh I love horror movies! I do prefer the older ones though...I'm not a fan of "Paranormal Activity" or any of that rubbish but "Hellraiser" (and the like) still has me captivated!
ReplyDeleteLoki-Lou, ah so you love the blood and gore!! I am more a paranormal activity kind of girl. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments! ♥
DeleteI like the 'sixth sense,' '666,' and 'Changeling' type of movies.
ReplyDeleteJourney of Life, wow you go for really scary movies! Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments! ♥
DeleteI had to watch The Birds in 7th Grade--and I hated that movie. You are right--you never look at birds the same way again after seeing it!!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!!
Cheers, Jenn.
Jenn, I know, right? My friend has this huge bird for a pet and that thing scares the living be Je$us out of me. It always looks at me like it wants to peck my eyes out or eat me. LOL Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments. This was a hard challenge since I don't so scary!! :D
DeleteEeks...I'm glad I didn't watch this one!
ReplyDeleteCorinne, I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to freak out whenever you see a flock of birds! Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments! ♥
DeleteOh The Birds...that is such a classic!
ReplyDeleteNicole, yes it is. Unfortunately it turned me off of horror flicks from a very young age. That movie simply scared the be Je$us out of me!! Definitely a classic. Thank you for stopping in to read and for your kind comments! ♥
DeleteThis is a prompt I just couldn't do as I refuse to watch any scary stuff. I hate Halloween. Only tolerate it for the sake of my kids. ANd one has peanut allergies so he can't even eat his own Halloween crappy candy.
ReplyDeleteSandra, I love Halloween and always look forward to it but simply do not watch horror flicks. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments! ♥
