Every Once in a While

100 Words on Saturday - Write Tribe

You are here with me, holding my hand, looking into my eyes smiling, loving me as only you can.   Insistent buzzing rips you from my grasp.  With a groan I roll over and quiet the alarm.  Desperately I close my eyes struggling to bring you back to me.

A full year since the accident and you still inhabit my every thought and dreams.  Fully awake now, sadness engulfs my heart.  Wishful thinking won’t bring you back.  Every once in a while I can almost smell the unforgettable fragrance of your perfume. Despite the cruel hand of fate, you linger still.

  1. Memories....they linger on...

This one makes me sad but I connected with it

    1. Rainbow Hues, they do linger and that is a blessing because death is so final. I have experience with it, and I think that is why I draw from that experience so often in my writing. Life isn't always happy. It has its sadness too and I think it is good to include all emotions in writing. Thank you for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥

  4. Sad but true...The reality is that we all have to live through this at some point of our life...
Living without our loved ones is tough.
Memories remain, but are they enough?

    1. Anitaexplorer, the sad thing is that in the end memories are all we have and as time goes on they fade too. It is part of life. Not a nice part, but part of it just the same. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments! ♥

    1. Mina, me either. I would simply die if something happened to my husband or two children. I honestly don't think I could bear it. I buried both of my parents and in my opinion that is enough. Of course, it is not up to me. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind input. ♥

  21. Such writings always make my mind wander to those incidents in my life when I lost a loved one. To death or to some misunderstanding. And I realise how much I miss them and how much that missing can bring no change in my life still. Kathy, this was written in such beautiful words it evoked an emotion within me. Beautiful stuff...
