Love Song- BFF 174

Love songs are crazy things able to evoke smiles and tears.  Amazing how music and words when combined can evoke so much.  I find it even more amazing that each love song has the ability to attach itself to different stages of a person’s life and interweave and define one’s most precious romantic memories so eloquently.

In grade school, love songs went hand in hand with school girl crushes.  I remember love songs from my grade school days when I clutched to the sweaty palm of a boy who led me around the roller rink on a moonlight skate, only to have him let go as we rounded a curve sending me hurtling and screaming into a pair of 6th graders.  I ended up in an embarrassing tangle of legs, arms, and roller skates, and he disappeared.     Still other love songs remind me of those awkward school dances when instead of dancing, you held your partner in a death grip and swayed, feeling their a$$ as they grabbed yours, and     eating profusely.

I chose the ultimate love song to be played at my wedding and in my heart it has been “our song” ever since.  I can not listen to this song and not think about my husband and remember our wedding day almost 15 years ago.

This many years later, this song is still the ultimate.  It says everything that I feel in my own heart for him.  Through the births of our babies, the deaths of loved ones, through the good and bad, he is there and this song still explains love in its purest, most enduring form.  Even to this day, his love still amazes me.  Although there have been many great love songs since, there will never be another quite like our song until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.

  2. So I therefore, suggest you not play that song while he is out on the road! That song should only be played or listened to when he is home and well, you know! :)
It is a beautiful song. ♥

    1. Jo, I very rarely listen to songs like that. You will find me bopping along to rocking, hip hopping tunes that have a definite beat. :D I find sappy love songs depressing, especially when he is on the road more than he is not. I really don't listen to stuff like that alone. I just listen to music that makes me happy and feel good. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your comments!

  3. Sweet, sweet, sweet! I loved your memories from childhood and the skating rink. I remember being ever so hopeful that Journey would be played during the couples skate. I don't know why because I had no partner to skate with, but I was ever so hopeful!

  5. Thinking on love songs-- I always relate love songs to movies. I don't know why that is. Joan Jett's "I Love Rock-n-Roll" is the ultimate roller skating song. Our song is "Forever Love" by Reba. That song moves mountains for us. Cheers, Jenn.
