Since Michael Faraday's invention of
balloons while experimenting with various gases in 1824, the world has chosen
balloons as a fun party addition. What is so thrilling about the low cost
inflatable, flexible bag? Whether you
fill them with plain ole air, helium, or water you instantly create a
rollicking party atmosphere.
Let's face it! Balloons are fun! Once my children arrived on the scene
balloons became a decoration staple at my house. I always blow up oodles of balloons to
celebrate birthdays at my house. I
string them up from the kitchen fan, have them dangling from the ceiling, and a
slew of them can be found rolling around on the floor. I believe the more balloons the better! I love balloons! I can't resist batting them about. Kids sit on them. People use them for games at carnivals and
throw darts at them. We blow them up
only to lose our grips and let them fly around the room. We chase them! They cause contagious smiles.
In the summer we fill them with water and throw them watching them explode with glee when they hit their target showering the person with a burst
of wet. This winter the kids and I filled balloons with water and food coloring and left them out to freeze in the f frigid temperatures overnight. The next morning we peeled away the balloons and had cool ice marbles to play with! What better to celebrate this years A-Z kickoff and the letter B that a big bunch of balloons.
And for more party fun, inhale the helium and talk funny!
ReplyDeleteJoJo, now that is fun!! Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteFun! Love water balloons:))
ReplyDeleteTayla, me too! They are a load of fun on a hot day,but ice balls are equally fun on a cold one. Gotta love balloons. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments!
DeleteI used to hate those games (as a child) where you had to blow up balloons until they burst. Still don't like balloons bursting anywhere near me!
ReplyDeleteA-Z Challenge
Paula, one game that stuck in my memory was the one where you had to bounce on a balloon until it blew up. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your memories!
DeleteBalloons are SO fun! Our receptionist at work has an 80th birthday coming up and I plan on surrounding her desk with balloons!

Megan, that sounds like a blast. I bet she will love it! Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteBalloons are always so festive. I love them!!
ReplyDeleteHolli, they are wonderful except for the work of blowing them up and then stringing them in exactly the perfect place. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments!
DeleteI've seen the frozen marbles on Pinterest and wondered if they really worked. I guess they do!
ReplyDeleteLisa, they work best when it is really cold outside over night. My kids tried to make them once when it a little warmer and they didn't freeze quite right. Fun ideas! Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments!
DeleteI'm not allowed balloons in my house. My #2 daughter is petrified of them!! Still, I love them and there is nothing better than a water fight with balloons on a hot summer day. Lovely post, Kathy xx
ReplyDeleteMojo, how awful to be scared of balloons. I love those water fights too. One summer we spent the day outside making water balloons and having fights with them and getting wet. At the end of the day we had some killer sun burns but some great memories. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments!
DeleteIt's illegal to have birthdays without balloons. There is no age limit to balloons in my house on a birthday! Nice post, Kathy.
ReplyDeleteBeachlover, I can't imagine a birthday without them either. That would be a sad occasion indeed. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments!
DeleteHave you ever seen a movie called, "The Red Balloon?" If not, you need to check it out. A balloon with a lot of personality is the star.

Joyce, I will have to check it out. Thank you for the tip!! Thank you for stopping by and for your comments! ♥
DeleteAnd getting a big balloon bouquet delivered is THE BEST! by the way, my children are telling me that helium is going to be extinct too. Could this be true?! They say it's nonreplenishable. Am I gullible or just the only person in the world to know nothing about helium??
ReplyDeleteJudy, I have heard this too!! The local Dollar Tree store has had a sign up in their window for months saying there is no helium due to the shortage. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments. ♥
Delete`That's awesome!! I wish I could make ice ballons! That would be so fun. What's not to love about ballons!!

Peanut Butter and Whine
Connie, balloons are really easy to make. Get some plain ole balloons and fill them with water at the kitchen sink. Add some food color in the shade of your choice and tie them off. Take them outside when it is cold overnight. If it is good and cold, which I think it was close to zero when I tried it, they will be frozen solid. Tear off the balloon and you will find you have beautiful ice marbles. I suppose you could put the water balloons in the freezer to get them frozen in warmer weather. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments! ♥
DeleteI used to rub balloons on my head and stick them on the wall as a kid. That doesn't make me odd--does it? LOL :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Kathy!
Jenn, no! I don't think that makes you odd. I think that makes you fun!!! Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments! ♥

Damyanti, me too. When my daughter was little she would always get a balloon when we went to the grocery store. As soon as we stepped outside she would let go of it and to her despair it would quickly float away. Since my Dad had just died, I told her that her balloon would be safe with Pa Pa. He would take good care of it. From then on she would send all her balloons to Pa Pa in heaven to remind him that she missed him and loved him.
