Delicious Oreo cookies have been tempting folks for over 100 years. They were first developed and produced by Nabisco (The National Biscuit Company) in 1912. They were sold in the United States in novelty tins with clear glass tops for 25 cents a pound. Since that time the love affair with the chocolate sandwich cookie has circled the globe.
I love Oreos! Like the big kid I am I still eat the filling first and then the cookies. When I was a kid I got a hold of a package of Oreo cookies and ate the fillings out of all of them leaving the chocolate cookies in the package. My sister was pissed and my mom was not amused. Who would have thought indulging in a little Oreo cream would have brought all the vengeance of hell down on my head? After that episode and a good old fashioned spanking, I learned my lesson. I learned to appreciate the chocolate cookies too. Everyone likes the filling best and leaving naked cookies in the package was just not acceptable. I learned the hard way to appreciate the chocolate cookies too. I still didn’t eat them first, but at least I ate them. If the people of Nabisco had meant for people to only eat the filling they would have just sold the filling without the cookie. I never pulled that stunt again.
Since I have become an adult I have discovered so many other ways to enjoy Oreo cookies! I have tried and fell in love with countless recipes using Oreos. I have made cakes, pies, and ice cream treats and each was just as good as the last simply because of that one special ingredient. Seriously, with Oreos in the recipe how in the world could you possible go wrong?
Love Oreos! Don't know why I didn't think of that...

DeleteAdorable Oreo bears. When your kid waits until 10:00 to tell you that you need to bake something for tomorrow, just wrap a platter of Oreo cookies in foil. No one will be disappointed . . . that is as long as you don't eat all of the creams out of the middles.

Joyce, now there is an idea. Don't know if I could resist those middles though! Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments! ♥
DeleteIndeed, how can you go wrong! I remember the first time they showed up in the grocery store in the small town where I lived in Italy. I bought 10 packs, just to make sure they wouldn't get away. Then, I had a party. :D

DeleteWe'd have gotten along great as kids since I didn't like the middle of the oreos. Sometimes I ate it first more to just get rid of it (when I didn't just scrape it off). I have since evolved!
ReplyDeleteAndrea, I could have ate the centers and you could have ate the cookies. We would have made a great team. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments! ♥
DeleteThose are such cute panda bears. I too like eating the filling for my Oreo cookies first.
ReplyDeleteCynthia, I thought they were pretty adorable too. Thank you for stopping by to read and for your kind comments! ♥
DeleteI once overindulged in Oreos which had lavender filling in honor of Easter. That resulted in a night of mad writing creativity that still makes me shudder when I think about it. I never touch the orange-filled Oreos you see at Halloween. Ick! :-D
ReplyDeleteHappy A to Z!
Lillian888, I have seen all those different varieties of Oreos. Somehow I don't think the colored versions are as appetizing as the plain white ones. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments! ♥
DeleteYum! I love Oreos, but I usually only allow myself the dry 100 calorie packs or the low fat ones. Those cupcakes look amazing!! You're doing great with this a-z challenge!
