G is for Grow

If you think about it, all our lives we are wishing we would grow or something would.  When I was little all I wanted was to grow bigger.  Now that I am bigger all I want is to grow smaller.  When we are young we long to grow up so we can do more things, and then we grow and wish we could just go back to the times when a hug and kiss from our mommy cured all the world’s hurts and solved all our problems.

Here in Indiana, spring breezes are blowing today and before much longer people will be planting gardens and flowers wishing and praying that they would just grow.  We will water and nurture our plants, just as we love and nurture our children watching them grow hoping they will prosper, flourish, and life will treat them well.

Unfortunately, life is not easy.  The road is long and full of potholes.  Our hearts are broken, feelings are hurt, and we mourn.  Still there is beauty in the sadness and the grief because out of the ashes of our tragedies, we learn and grow.  Whether we are at the beginning of our lives or near the end, every day we live there is potential to grow.

  3. Nice insightful post Kathy - I've always believed we grow more through our trials than our good times. (Not that I always like it that way mind you!) :)

  10. Hello, my friend...Yes, I know what you mean. I am nearly 80 and still learning, still keeping busy. My blogging helps keep my mind active, and my fingers are kept busy with quilting. Many grands and great grands keep my heart happy and my children are wonderful to me and to others around them. Come see me, if you have the time. Best regards to you. Ruby

  12. Very true. I was in a discussion group on Sunday and we were talking about growth and human nature. Even in the midst of challenging and difficult situations, there is something that we are meant to grow and learn from the experience. (Visiting from the A-Z Challenge.)

  19. What an insightful post. Sometimes the idea of being a kid again can be enticing because I can do certain things "right" the second time around and appreciate some of the things I'd taken for granted as a child.

  20. Kathy,
I loved this post! It's when we stop growing and leaning toward the light that we start to wither and die. Your imagery is lovely.
