Unconnected and Enjoying Life!

It is day 13 of the Ultimate Blogging Challenge and Nablopomo asked “How do you feel when you are unconnected to the internet?”  I don’t know about you but when I am unconnected here, I am more connected with life around me.  I am running around like a chicken with her head cut up trying to get all my chicks in a row and take care of business.

This morning I was up at the butt crack of dawn racing for the bank and paying bills.  From there I visited Lowe’s for bug spray…the husband so loves to play exterminator and kill anything long and leggy that crawls!!  The way the bugs have been taking over this summer, his date with a huge jug of bug killer was long overdue.  We even had our brush with the bees.

A whole colony of the beasts decided to take up residence right across from my camper in the peak of our house.  They must have been busy because we discovered a huge hive literally crawling with bees.  My husband decided to rain on their parade and sprayed the living piss out of their home with the hose before knocking the hive to the ground with a rake.  Even now those crazy bees are still hanging about trying to figure out just what the hell happened.  They need to get a clue and move elsewhere instead of sticking around trying to repair what is left of their home.

Even though I worked in a laboratory conducting quality control in my youth on diabetes test strips, I never thought that I would ever become quite so intent on test strips again without being paid for it.  Instead of in pursuit of the almighty dollar, I am obsessed with obtaining perfect swimming pool water.  So you will find me poolside daily testing the water for the levels of PH and whatnot.  For what, crystal clear pool water that doesn’t stink or cause itchy skin.  It is so worth it in the end!!  After a long day of rushing about getting things done there is nothing better than sinking into a nice cool swimming pool and cooling off.

My husband and son race his remote control trucks, we ride the three wheeler, my daughter and I play badminton or what kind of looks like it and in the midst of it all, I still manage to do laundry, get the house clean, dishes done, and comments answered and reciprocated because that is the kind of girl I am.  I get ‘er done because I’m that kind of girl!!

When I am not connected to the internet I am knitting socks, reading books, cooking, playing card games with my kids, playing with my dogs, swimming, and just having a grand ole time.   Isn’t that what life is for…to enjoy?  That is what I do when I am not connected to the internet, and when I am I share the experience.

  3. Sometimes you really do need to disconnect from the internet. It is not easy to do since being online is what my work entails, as well as so many other aspects of my life. However, it is nice to just get a breath of fresh air away from it sometimes.

    1. Unknown, usually it takes for me to disconnect for the internet company to disconnect my service which seems to happen more than I like. Got to pay bills by priority and whether I have internet or not is down the totem pole after the house, utilities, food, and vehicle. So yeah, it is usually a forced hiatus for me. I find disconnecting helps me become more motivated and inspired to write. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments!

  4. I love bees and wasps and appreciate all they do, but we had so many on our deck they had to go!
When I'm not online I'm often enjoying our bee-free deck with the kids. :)

    1. Gretchen, I agree! They are all fine and good but I really don't want a swarm inches away from where my family is having a good time. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments! ♥

  5. I just disconnected from FB - again. I just get too busy, I am too busy, and FB becomes a huge time waster for me. I don't miss FB and I'm sure I'll jump on again some day, I always do, but in the meantime, I, like you, am living life to the fullest and having a blast doing it! Great post. :)

    1. MiMi, Face Book is a huge time sucker no doubt about that. I generally only go there to promote my blog, find writing challenges, and catch up on other blogger's posts. I also cruise my wall to see if anyone has anything funny to say...then I am out of there! LOL Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments! ♥

  6. Sounds like you do better without it. I find that the internet can be a terrible time suck.

    1. Joyce, it is an incredible suck, but sometimes it helps time pass until my husband comes home or time pass until the kids are off of school and then I don't really mind it so much. When they are all home it is time to enjoy life...and I do. Thank you for stopping by and your kind comments! ♥

  7. You sure manage to achieve quite a bit in the space of a single day when you are not connected to the Internet. Even so, I am thankful for the Internet. How else would we get a taste of all the lovely things you say and do through your blog? God bless your family. You guys have so much fun.

  9. That's right. when I'm not connected it is a lot about getting things done. And when I am connected, it's about avoiding getting that stuff done:)

    1. Sandra, my mom always said "Six of one and half a dozen of another" which is pretty much the same thing. If you are online you are taking care of business, and when you are not...you are still taking care of business. Although, I also love avoiding getting stuff done too. It would be so easy to just not to. LOL Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments! ♥

  10. I get catatonic when I'm not connected or at least know that I can be. My power was out for 4 days in Feb after a blizzard and I wasn't sure what I missed more, heat or internet. OK it was heat, but still! A friend who had power invited me to sleep over and the first thing she gave me was her WiFi password! lol
