It is New Year’s Day 2014! I have resolved to write more this year,
create even more art, laugh even more than I usually do, and worry even
less. As 2013 came to a close, I took a
little time away from blogging to enjoy my husband and kids and the holidays in
general. It was great, all of it! I love having them all home celebrating
Christmas and ringing in the New Year.
Before long, my husband will head back to work, my kids back to school, and
the dogs and I will be left to our own devices during the day. I dragged my heels about signing up for
writing every single day in January. I
wondered if I could find the words to post every single day. It would be so much easier not too, so much
easier to sit back and post a couple days a week and be done.
Zentangle I created of my husband's semi truck as a Christmas surprise for him. |
I usually have at least 4-6 blog posts in the can and ready to publish but I'm out. No idea what to write or post. lol
ReplyDeleteJoJo, you my friend are way ahead of me. I fly by the seat of my pants and never have a post ready to go. I write them each day like the loony I am. LOL Thank you for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥
DeleteWhat a stellar year 2013 was for you Kathy! Enjoy all the rediscovered talents and I look forward to what you'll be sharing in 2014. :)
ReplyDeleteAmy, I didn't realize how great it was until I looked back on it. I even won a haiku contest with one of my first attempts at the form. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments! ♥

DeleteI'm so grateful to have you as a blogging friend, Kathy, and will look forward to following you in 2014! And, I have every confidence that you can create a post a day in January. When I first began my devotional blog, I wrote one for each day for an entire year. With God , all things are possible!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and your family in the New Year!
Martha, I am grateful to have found you as well! Thank you so much for stopping by, your kind words, and your continued support. I may have to rely on God some more this month when I run out of words and my mind draws a blank. He has never failed me in the past. ♥
DeleteI am also doing the January NaBloPoMo and it remains to be seen how successful I will be. Normally pressure like this kicks my butt and makes me work, so I hope to have a highly productive blogging January and take the opportunity to meet other bloggers!

DeleteIt's good that you took a break and took stock of 2013 as it has proven to be quite a nice year with some awesome achievements thrown in, and that Zentangle, wow, that truly is something else. Am sure your husband was mighty pleased to see his semi truck immortalized in this form and fashion. Here's wishing you all the very best for UBC and NaBloPoMo for Jan. Am more than sure you will crack both of them...
ReplyDeletemahabore, taking breaks from blogging is always necessary for me to keep moving forward. Sometimes you just have to step back and live life...then you can get back to it. Thank you for stopping by and fro your lovely comments. My husband loved the zentangle which made it all worthwhile! ♥
DeleteCongratulations on your renaissance! It feels great, doesn't it? Happy New Year! Wishing you all the best with your writing and your other creative endeavors. Cheers!

ReplyDeleteMichelle, Thank you so much for stopping by and for your sweet comments! ♥
DeleteWell, didn't know Kathy about this ultimate blog challenge but just signed up for it, as if I have time between my own blogging, the new Woven Press site and actual issues. But it might prove cathartic and that's what I need. Thanks for your comforting comment on my latest post. I remember reading about how you started that clerical job after your mom died as a way of trying to learn how to live on without her…I think I'm already having to start that process.
ReplyDeleteSandra, writing maybe what helps keep you sane these days. You may be right. It may be God's way of helping you to let go. Thank you for stopping by and for your lovely comments. I am happy if I was able to help if even a small way. ♥
DeleteWish you a very happy new year Kathy..It's great to know that you draw ! I wish I could manage my time like you. :)

ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you're drawing again....and I wish you all the best with January NaBloPoMo. The December one was enough for me for a little while (so I'm back on a regular schedule). I may take on another blogging challenge soon though.
Loki, me too. It is like finding a lost fragment of my soul that with its inclusion finally makes me whole again. I am so happy to see you back to blogging again but can certainly understand the need for a rest after NaBloPoMo in December with the holidays and all. Happy New Year to you and thank you for stopping by and for your sweet comments. ♥
DeleteI like your enthusiasm, both for the year that has finished, but for what's in store for the new one! Good luck on your challenge of writing every day - I know you can do it. (I always sit those out because it's even more of an excuse for me not to work on my novel... I'm lazy that way :) )
ReplyDeletejannatwrites, thank you for the luck (I will need it!) , stopping by, and for your sweet comments! ♥
