Would I Stay or Would I Go??

Today the brilliant minds at NaBloPoMo want to know whether I would rather stay or go.  That all depends on what my options are, so let’s just explore a few for clarity.

1.  Would I rather stay home or go back to work?  I am used to being home, and although the paycheck and extra money is appealing, if I have the choice I will stay home.

2.  Would I rather stay home or go to see Nickelback, or Ozzy Osbourne, or any of my favorite singing groups live in concert?  I want to go!! Sign me up!! I am so there, jumping up and down, screaming, throwing fresh panties on the stage! (I have always wanted to do that, not exactly sure why… but hell, it sounds like fun!)

3.  Would I rather stay home or go to jury duty? Well, that is a no brainer.  No one wants to serve jury duty.  Although at this point my kids are at school all day, and I don’t have an excuse.  With no trains to catch, I can still think of more fun things to do than THAT.

4.  When I quit college and came home I remember my Dad coming into my room.  I remember bracing myself for a good telling off.  Instead he sat there silent for a few minutes.  Then he hit me with “Since you aren’t doing anything now, do you want to go to Disney World?”  Sphincter says what??  Can I get a hell yeah??  You would not have to ask me twice about any vacation destination.  I would be packing my bags and making plans before you changed your mind.  I would go!!

5.  Do I want to go grocery shopping and pay bills? Do I have a choice?  I would rather stay home, but a body has to eat and the bills must be paid so I will go dragging my feet all the way.  It is never fun to watch a wad of cash dwindle to nothing.

Bottom line if I am sure of a fun time, count me in.  If I know it is just going to be a nightmare from hell then I will drag my heels and beg not to be forced to go.  Most of the time, I am game for just about anything because I don’t get out much.  It never hurts to blow the stink off your a$$ every now and then until next time when I give you another glimpse into the life of a trucker’s wife.

  1. I would TOTALLY do jury duty!!!! I'm a frustrated SAHM would a wasted law degree!!! I wonder if I would be chosen?

Your dad's reaction to your choosing a path other than school is heartwarming. I'm glad you shared that.

I think most of us would choose leisure over work, but one man's work is another man's leisure. Yes?

    1. Amy, I can surely understand your interest in jury duty especially since you have a law degree. My dad's reaction really blew me away, and it still does to this day. I think what you say is very true. You have a very demanding hectic life at home with your children and their needs, so I am sure any escape even to work would be welcome. I am comfortable at home and fear I wouldn't be able to get a job if I tried. With your law degree you could do something whenever you decided to. The grass is always greener on the other side they say...thanks for stopping by to read and for your comments!!

  2. Well--I'm a worker--I love what I do--so I'd definitely choose the job over not working anyday! Of course, I work from home, but even if they made me go to an office here in town, I'd so be there. Nothing gives me more satisfaction than putting in an honest day's work (oh and making my bonuses!).

I'm all for Ozzy Osborne and Disney World!! YAY!!

I'm with you on the grocery shopping though. I'd rather stay home but then I'd have to listen to 5 hungry kids and a hubby complain they were hungry -- so I off I go--every week!

    Cheers, Jenn.

    1. Jenn, I am a worker too. For me there is the anxiety of trying something new. I don't do change well. Once I got used to it I would be fine. I am so pleased you enjoyed my post!! Yes, bills and groceries are a necessity, but I still would rather be doing anything else. Thanks for stopping by to read and for your comments!

  4. Great post - I'd go for staying home but that's easy to say as I'm retired. Collecting my pension equals being paid to stay home! Not into pop concerts these days but a choice between front seats at musical shows might have me in a quandary - Les Miserables or Carousel? Definitely not jury service, though. Did it once, and it was sooooooooooo boring! Disney World - been there, done that - 27 years ago and again last year, and very little had changed in the meantime. I'd rather go to Ireland. Grocery shopping - necessary but again, boring!

    1. Paula, I always loved a good musical too. I have been to see "Cats", and ran the sound board for productions of "Fiddler on the Roof", "Damn Yankees", and "No No Nanette". I also went to a production of "Grease" which was awesome!! I am so pleased you stopped by to read and I enjoyed your comments. Thank you!

    1. Holly, thank you!! For me it is the whole package although I get into the writing the more I do it. I love music and tie it in with everything I do, along with the visuals. I enjoy doing the whole enchilada and I am thrilled you enjoyed my post. Thank you for stopping by and making my day!!

  6. Funny, when I first saw this writing prompt, "Should I Stay or Should I Go" became my ear worm for the day.
After hearing how your Dad handled your announcement about not going back to college, I feel like such a horrible parent. When my daughter didn't make it the first semester, I dragged her around to all of the businesses in the area and told her she had to immediately get a job. She did get that job, but when she was ready, she also went back to school and got her degree.
    Very creative post.

  7. If I had a choice to stay at home or work? I would most likely STAY AT HOME! But... I like the social interaction I get at work and talking to different people every day.

So hmm. But then again - if I could do blogging full time? I would most definitely do it!

    1. Avgjoegeek, I get plenty of social interaction blogging full time. I really thrive on it. Sometimes I get lonely for human interaction. When that happens I head to the store, the library, or the park or I lose myself in a book. My husband is always usually a phone call away too. I worked at a job I really loved before I quit to stay home with my kids. It was ideal for me because I didn't really have to interact with anyone face to face much. :D Just put on my headphones filled with my tunes and enter orders all day long to the beat. Writing at home isn't much different, except here I don't get paid for it :P and I don't have to use headphones. I can crank it full blast, and dance if the spirit moves me. Thanks for stopping by to read and comment!!

  8. Compared to most here, I have to say I have it pretty easy. No kids and no house payment, but I do have some responsibilities so until they are paid, I will go to work, no matter how much I want to stay home. I wouldn't mind going to see a good concert every now and then. Jury duty, ah...no. Been there, done that and don't want to do it again. Vacation...the islands are calling me and I am desperate to get out of Dodge for awhile. My husband does the shopping and we each pay our own bills. I like having fun like everyone else, but I need to plan it because...well, my fun tends to be a bit on the expensive side!

    1. Susan, everyone has responsibilities...they just take different forms for different people. It sounds like you have your priorities all mapped out and that is a good thing. I would give anything to anywhere on vacation!! I am so pleased you dropped by to read, comment, and share!!
