Life is a Dance

It is the 22nd day of the Ultimate Blog Challenge and NaBloPoMo.  Today I chose to write on today's NaBloPoMo writing prompt.

Steve Jobs said:
"You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future."

If you think about it, this makes a ton of sense.  You can’t connect dots looking forward because no one can really predict the future because it has yet to be written.  However, you can mull over past events in your life and connect the dots of those various events and gain the understanding of how you ended up where you are today.

I believe that our lives are mapped out for us before we are even born.  Of course we make choices along the way that either slows that ultimate destiny or hastens it.  Still, while we may not understand why things happen as they do, we tend to only understand in hindsight and then the lessons are learned and wisdom is gained.

I always loved dot-to-dot puzzles when I was a kid.  I loved connecting the dots and watching how the big picture appeared as if by magic.  Life is an awful lot like that.  You have to simply trust that things will work out as they are meant too.  For those of us that believe in God, we believe only he knows how the big picture appears in the end, for he often knows us better than we know ourselves.  For me, I believe that in the big scheme of things life is a dance and you learn as you go.

  2. AMEN! Connecting the dots and trusting that your future will connect as well is important. I think my own blog post about growing up and having faith in yourself is very much in line with this!

    Loving it.

  3. I've heard it said that we can predict the future by studying our past. I think what they meant was that if we take the time to study where we went wrong we can predict how our future will not be if we learn from those mistakes.

I too believe that our lives are laid out for us before we arrive. I believe that we are destined to learn certain things here on earth and we will keep repeating the same lessons over and over until we learn from them.

    Thank you for sharing this.

Keep dancing - "like no one is watching!" ;-)

  5. this is such a beautiful post Kathy! there's a saying that "if u want to make god laugh, tell him ur future plans"...which means exactly what u said, he knows it better than us, what we really want and what we should get..so leave it to him.

    1. the little princess, that is exactly what I do. When I try to fight things is when everything goes to hell in a hand basket so it is easier to just sit back and enjoy the ride. Thank you for stopping by and for your kind comments! ♥

  8. There are too many twists and turns in life to possibly connect the dots going forward. I'm not a believer, but I just try to live a good life, do the right thing, be grateful for what I have and not try to look too far into the future. :)

  9. Such a fresh perspective to work ahead in life by keeping our own life as an example. And yes we may find it difficult to do but if the learnings can be extracted from the pain perhaps this would help us utmost to move forward..
