Lost Treasure

While sorting through my mom’s belongings after her death I came across something I never knew existed.  Buried in a box of pictures and memorabilia I discovered a diary.  I peeked inside its cover and quickly recognized my mother’s flowing handwriting filling each page in blue ink.  While glancing through the pages, I realized this was a diary she had kept while she had been pregnant with me!

A picture of her a few short weeks before my birth was saved within.  My heart thrilled at my discovery and I devoured each word as a starving person would a meal.

  15. Wow! That must have felt amazing! A diary for you even before you were born! Nothing better than that to make you feel you are so truly loved! Real treasure!

My mom kept a baby record book for me for a couple of years after my birth... and that's my most prized possession of her. My treasure, you could say! Every time I read it, I feel connected to her again. I shared a few pages from it on my blog once... just scanned them and made a slideshow in picasa. Here's the link for it, if you'd like to check it out sometime... UBC Day 6 - "30 Days of Me: The Prized Possession...".

Do share some stuff from the diary, if you feel comfortable with the idea. :)

    1. Chicky, I never really thought about it that way!! I love to look at my baby book. Unfortunately, I was my mom's 2nd child so she didn't take the time to fill it out as completely as she did for my sister, still I love looking at it. Thank you for stopping in and for your kind comments!

  19. A treasure beyond compare ~ it's kinda sad that she could didn't have the opportunity to give it to in person so you could share that time in her life together ~ I have a small diary I wrote when I was pregnant and I read it a few times and realize how naive and immature I was!
